Cinema Rewind 2015: Reboot and Remastered By: Gabriel Ossa
It seems that every year, the film industry finds one way or another to give the daunting eyes of movie go-ers a run for their money with a cinemantic spectacle worthy of discussion for years. However, it seems this year might indeed be something much more special. This year the film industry has really outdone themselves with a self proported "throwback year" with four classic trilogies being rebooted, remastered, and even redistributed.
These trilogies include the continuation of Sci-Fi classic "Star Wars" with "The Force Awakens" with Han Solo and Luke Skywalker themselves reprising their roles as much older and experienced star fighters. Excitement was felt all around the galaxy as the trailer hit the internet, making this year possibly one of the most interesting so far.
Also on the horizon, director George Miller takes yet another approach in his Post Apocalyptic Fiction classic "Mad Max" with a highly anticipated reboot titled "Fury Road." With Mel Gibson no longer the main character, Tom Hardy takes on the road warriors of the last generation with the current one. Lets hope the desert of Tatooine doesn't sweep it under the rug.
But save the roars for this one folks, Jurassic Park is back and larger than ever. With the continuation of the classic Sci-Fi disaster flick, titled "Jurassic World," Chris Pratt steals the main character spotlight from former star Jeff Goldbloom with a new story and an entirely new island. With well understood skepticism, critics stay wary of this new installment.
And last but certaintly not least; Arnold came back. Terminator Genisys, the fifth installment in the classic Sci-Fi franchise takes aim at the box office this year as much older Arnold Schwarzanegg reprises his role as The Terminator. In a new age, and a completely new story line, Terminator plans to deliver a new take on the Terminator universe as Arnold takes on Arnold for possibly one last time. Let's hope his efforts don't become lost in time!
Earth Day 2015
By: Emily Graydon and Taylor Wright
The very first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. Earth daywas created by an American Senator named Gaylord Nelson to make people aware of the importance of keeping our planet healthy and clean. On that day, people made promises to help the environment and make positive changes in their community. Since then, more than 500 million people in over 180 countries have participated in Earth Day activities.
This year, the NHS seniors went on a field trip to Columbus State University to celebrate Earth day at CSU's Earth Day Fair. There were activities such as rock climbing and a scavenger hunt for everyone to participate in. Everyone spent the day outside enjoying the beautiful weather that the Earth has provided for us!

Presidents Day!!
By: Emily Graydon Every year on the third Monday in February we celebrate Presidents Day, but what is the history behind this holiday? This American holiday was started in 1885 in recognition of president George Washington. The holiday was originally celebrated on February 22, since that is Washington's actual date of birth and originally was called Washington's Birthday. The Federal Government still uses the original title for the day. It soon became known as Presidents Day after being moved as a part of the 1971 Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to make more three-day weekends for our nations workers. Presidents Day is popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S Presidents both past and present.
Album Of The Year?!
By: Zac Cravens Drake's new release " If You're Reading This It Is Too Late" is an album that was very unexpected. Drake gave many hints that he was dropping an album in the near future however, no one expected 17 tracks that could move anyone. Lyrically, Drake is outstanding and has a wide variety of similes and metaphors that intertwine with one another. Also, Drake tells stories within his songs that are very heart felt. The most common story in one of his songs from the new album release is "You & the 6." It is a one-sided conversation with a single mother that raised him.

Patriot Palooza
On January 31, 2015 Northside had its first ever Patriot Palooza. At this family fun day that welcomed anybody and everybody, both baseball and soccer inter-squads were being played, and they were even giving out free hot dogs and snow cones. There was ultimate Frisbee, corn-hole, and even live music played by former Northside students. Coach Laney even had a good time, flying his new drone around to get some footage of everything that was happening. the Patriot Palooza lasted until the girls' basketball game against Columbus started. With the boys' game after the girls', everyone who attended the Palooza poured into the stands to show their support. Overall it was a great turnout for the first year and hopefully it will go on to be a tradition. By: Bryce Delevie
Spring Pep Rallies
High school pep rallies are one of the highlights of each new school year. However, these pep rallies are usually only for football and not for other sports. Pep rallies should start off the season for not only football, but other sports from fall through spring.
Pep rallies for football get students excited for the season and help the players get more support for their games. It also gives students more school spirit and take pride in their school. This excitement should be equal for all high school sports. Only having pep rallies for football lessens the importance of other sports during fall and spring, and leads to most other sports not receiving as much student support. Pep rallies for other sports would give our teams the support they need, increase school spirit, and make all teams and sports feel equal.

New Years Resolutions
A popular tradition among the coming and passing of yet another year, it's time for the new years resolutions. New years resolutions are "promises" of a sort by regular people to see if they change something about themselves, either for moral, physical, or sometimes even social reasons. Let's see what our patriots have committed this year!
Ryan Pittman - My New Years Resolution is to work harder and be more like Heff. Katharyn Pittman - Give up gluten, and work harder towards my goals. Ms. Karnotski - Be more positive with my students and co-workers. Keval Patel - Work harder towards my education. Tarence Gamble - Change McKenzie Quigley - Become a Pokemon master. Destiny Pickens - To stop talking to Gabe. Mrs. Wilson - Eat less fat and exercise much harder. Alli Woodall - Be more sociable.
And that's only a handful of the possible hundreds of resolutions out there. To all those who submitted for the Newspaper, and all of those who have resolutions out there; keep up the good work and have a happy new year!

Origin of Christmas
To a lot of people, the holiday of Christmas is all about decorations, presents, and food. In reality though, Christmas originated from the Christian religion. December 25th is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of god, birthed by Mary. This is where the nativity scene comes from that you may see as a decoration in the homes of Christian families. Mary and Joseph went to an inn to get a room so she could have the child but all that was left was a stable. So they had the baby in the animal stable, and people from all over traveled to bring the king of kings gifts. So even if you aren't a follower of Christianity, you now know there is a lot more to this holiday than Christmas trees, stockings, and eggnogs.

No-Shave November (Movember) By: Bryce Delevie Every November, men all over the world participate in "No-Shave November." When you ask them why, they often say they don't know and they do it because everybody else does. "No-Shave November" originated from something called "Movember," that a group of guys in Adelaide, South Australia created by growing their moustaches out during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers. The Movember Foundation encourages men to get involved by growing their moustaches. They aim to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. So show your support and grow out your staches.
The College Admissions Process in a Nutshell By: Keval Patel The college application process can be grueling and frightening, but it should not be if you start from freshman year and are aware of the college application process. This guide will show the application process from freshman year throughout senior year:
Freshman Year: Freshman year seems far off from college, but it is crucial to start thinking about what you want to major in and schools to consider. The most import component of your freshman year is keeping your grades up. Your GPA is crucial! Start thinking about extracurricular activities that you think you will flower at. Start volunteering, and or think about getting a job.
Sophomore Year: Keep your grades up, and hopefully you have found an activity/club you enjoy and excel at. Work on building relationships with teachers and counselors, and stay focused, you still have a long way to go. You should start studying for the PSAT which can qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship which will help tremendously.
Junior Year: At most schools, this is the toughest and most stressful year. The most important thing about this year is getting started on the SAT and ACT. Check what score your prospective school is looking for, and adjust accordingly. Take it to get a baseline score and work at your weaknesses. You should be able to call it quits on those tests by September of your Senior Year. Work towards leadership roles in extracurricular activities, and keep your grades up as time is becoming crucial.
Senior Year: Start Applying to College! Most applications open by September and early deadlines are usually in October/November. Hopefully you have gotten your SAT/ACT scores where you want them. If you don’t, you have plenty more opportunities. Try and acquire leadership roles in your club or activity. Don’t let your grades suffer from senioritis, as it happens to most students. Hopefully by December you have completed your college applications and are awaiting acceptance letters. Good Luck!

Skinny vs. Average
By: Kayla Fountain and Taylor Wright
Who do you usually see walking down the runway? Probably skinny models with their bones showing, right? If your height isn't 5'10, or you don't have long legs, you will not even be considered in auditions. There are even weight restrictions among the height regulations and much more. Nowadays, models are viewed as having the "perfect body." Our generation believes that you have to be skinny to be perfect, which, in reality, is not the case. To have the perfect body you do not have to be under 100 pounds or have your ribs visible from the outside of your body. To be beautiful you should feel beautiful and not put yourself down when you see other "perfect" girls. Being average sized can be considered your own skinny and besides it is about what is on the inside too. Just because you are skinny and you are a model, that does not mean you are anywhere near perfect when you have to starve yourself to look that way. Starving yourself shouldn't be how models live, it should be how you want to eat and want to live because you are your own person. I believe anyone can be a model and that's how it should be.
